About This Site
You may be wondering what exactly archival research is and what it entails. Georgia State University describes archival research as "research involving primary sources held in an archives, a Special Collections library, or other repository. Archival sources can be manuscripts, documents, records (including electronic records), objects, sound and audiovisual materials, or other materials."
For instance, while abroad, we had the opportunity to handle primary sources at the British Library in London and the Jerwood Center in Grasmere. The British Library's website has a plethora of electronic/digitized records of primary sources (some of which I utilize), and the Jerwood Center has an amazing collection of primary sources related to well-known English authors.
Archival research is critical to studies within a multitude of fields, but having these sorts of records available in literature provides an illuminating view into a work or an author (as you'll see from the pages created on this site).
